Almaden Quicksilver Museum offered a review on ladies' period clothing between 1830 to 1900. The interpreter discussions ranged from definitions, layering (undergarments), decorating the dress (for design or need) to accessories (items carried by the females as they chose for necessity, and hats). Also included were accurate memories of mothers--some memories are displayed at this museum. There were a few who studied this fashion period, which no doubt brought on an excellence in their presence.

I took a liking to the undergarment "hoop" which was a style to make the skirt spread evenly--unlike slimming or spandex garments. I have a childhood memory of a stiff white half slip which added some elegance to my dress as one can imagine. Today, as I attended this review discussion on period clothing I learned that to research one must use more than one web-site to get a conclusion so I'll surf a patent office web-site next time.

Do-able and fun plus you get offered cookies and coffee or you may bring a snack with you and still enjoy a thorough museum tour with their docent named John. Very Happy
